C067. RARE WWII FIXED LOOP M1 HELMET WITH GENERAL FIBRE LINER. GENERAL FIBRE WAS A SUBCONTRACTOR FOR HAWLEY AND ONLY MADE 120,000 LINERS COMPARED TO 3.9 MILLION HAWLEYS. McCORD MANUFACTURED FRONT SEAM, FIXED LOOP HELMET HAS NICE, ORIGINAL CORK TEXTURED PAINT WITH INITIALS “E.M.C.” PAINTED IN YELLOW TO THE FRONT. GOOD CHINSTRAPS WITH THE RAISED BAR BUCKLE. THE LOT NUMBER IS 58A WHICH WOULD DATE MANUFACTURE TO AROUND FEBRUARY 1942. THE LINER HAS THE “G” STAMP INSIDE THE DOME FOR GENERAL FIBRE. HAS FIRST PATTTERN RAYON WEBBING WITH A SIZE 5 NAPE STRAP AND SIZE 7 1/2 SNAP IN SWEATBAND. THE ONLY REAL DISTRACTION THE LINER HAS IS THE FIXED LEATHER CHINSTRAP IS BROKEN AT ONE MOUNTING LOOP.
